Shri Sohan Singh, a Forest Guard, Tons Forest Division, Uttarakhand, lost his life after falling in a deep gorge while battling a forest fire on June 17, 2026. Following a news clip shared by a member, the IFSBWT at once approached the concerned DFO for the details of the case in the prescribed format. The DFO responded with commendable promptness. The Trust, on June 21, 2026, approved financial assistance of ₹2 lakh to the mother of the deceased and the amount was credited to her account on June 22, 2026.
Ms Rasmita Subuddhi, Forest Guard, Malkangiri Forest Division, Odisha, was grievously injured on the night of June 12, 2026, while returning home from patrol duty. Acting on a message received in a WhatsApp group, the IFSBWT took cognisance of her condition, approved financial assistance of ₹2.5 lakh for her medical treatment on June 15, 2026, and released the amount on June 17, 2026.
On May 30, 2026, the Trust provided financial assistance to the family of Thiru S Radhakrishan, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Tamil Nadu Forest Academy, Coimbatore, who got seriously injured in the line of duty and is presently undergoing emergency treatment in a hospital in Coimbatore.
